Our First Online Series

Our first online series profiles domestic violence. So many women have experienced some form of it – whether being yelled at, hit, beaten and even raped. (Yes non-consensual sex is rape – even by your partner.) And, now those memories hold them back from making changes in their lives, allowing them to have fuller relationships and intimacy. By also holding onto those memories and not dealing with the emotional pain, these women has gone from ignoring the pain, to where their bodies force them to deal with the underlying pain by manifesting it as full blown cases of fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, heart disease and cancer.
According to medical doctors, these are all debilitating illnesses. To women who have survived emotional and physical abuse and learned to thrive, these are just stumbling blocks on the path to health.
Both Debra and I have created this series to take you from disease to solutions. Along the way we will give you tips on building your self esteem, techniques on “knowing what you want” and how to create “prosperity” because life is more than having enough money, it’s about having health, career, friends and family.
So where do we being. Let’s pick a disease and talk about its roots: fibromyalgia. Joel Klein MD has written an introduction to the disease. His closing paragraph has sparked a discussion is FM a disease of the body or does it have a mental and emotional component. This is a perfect place to enter your thoughts.
Our author/experts will next focus on techniques to release the memories of abuse. As long as those memories abound, the body will hold onto it symptoms in an attempt to protect. Releasing comes in many forms. There are psychotherapy techniques, meditations, movements and various types of tapping. If you have questions about a particular technique, email us.
And so that there is closure, we will be offering a section on ceremonies. Both our bodies and our minds need closure. We are looking for ideas, ritual and full ceremonies that work to take a survivor and rebirths her into a thriver – someone who embraces life.
As always, we welcome poetry, short stories, and articles that support our healing.
